Telescope Setup

Privacy Policy

Telescope Setup is your night-side field pad — collimation steps, polar-align marks, eyepiece lists, and observing checklists on your iPhone. This page explains what we may access, what stays in your private observing log, and what we never pass to gear advertisers or sky-data brokers.

Last updated August 18, 2026

Scope

This Privacy Policy applies to the Telescope Setup mobile app on the Apple App Store and to public pages hosted on this domain. It is written for observers using the app and visitors reading this page.

Information

Telescope Setup does not require your legal name, email, phone, mailing address, club membership ID, or payment card for core setup tools.

Collimation notes, alignment marks, eyepiece tags, and session checklists you add remain for your in-app experience. We do not repurpose them for targeted advertising or resale.

Remote Content

When the app opens optional public material — for example a linked policy page — it may load that content from a public URL. Those pages are generic; nothing from your private observing log is sent upstream.

Photos & Location

If you attach collimation snaps or site photos, Telescope Setup may request camera or photo library access only when you choose to import. Location is not collected by default. Contacts and microphone stay unused unless a future feature clearly needs them and this policy is updated.

Device

Setup notes and checklists stay in on-device storage. Diagnostics you voluntarily share with Apple follow Apple’s privacy terms.

Hosting

Infrastructure partners operate this policy page and any public routes on this domain. They may retain traffic logs needed for security and uptime under their own practices.

Minors

Telescope Setup is meant for users 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. Contact App Store support if a minor saved data by mistake and we will help clear it where we can.

Retention & Security

Logs you keep in Telescope Setup remain under your control on your device. Delete sessions in-app or uninstall to wipe local storage.

We apply reasonable safeguards to hosted assets. No service is perfectly secure — treat alignment notes like a sealed observatory notebook, not a public star chart.

Your Choices

Leave Telescope Setup whenever you choose. Revoke photo or network access in iOS Settings for a quieter offline field pad where supported.

Updates

We may revise this policy as Telescope Setup evolves. The date above marks substantive changes. Continued use after an update accepts the new terms where law permits.

Contact

Privacy questions about Telescope Setup may be sent through the App Store support channel or the developer contact on the product page.
